Update: Empowering Patient Voices fundraising results
Thank you for sharing the “Empowering Patient Voices Campaign” last month and making generous contributions towards our goal! Together we have raised $1,050 which will be used for community engagement activities, such as a partner kick off meeting, by the new Community Outreach Coordinator when they are brought on board.
The Community Engagement Coordinator job is expected to be posted early next year. Jointly funded by philanthropic donors and UBC Health, it is a 1-year ‘proof-of-concept’ position that we hope will be extended if the role is successful in increasing the diversity of patients involved in health professional education at UBC. We look forward to sharing updates with you in the coming months as we work towards our goal of increasing access for those from equity-deserving communities who may need more support to enable their participation.
We have transitioned the month-long campaign to an ongoing opportunity where supporters can help us increase access for marginalized, vulnerable, and rural and remote patients and communities, and reach even more health professional students. This is a unique chance for British Columbians to come together and shape the future of health professional education in our province.
