Putting Patients First 2024

On November 14th, Cathy Kline, Darren Lauscher, Kent Loftsgard, Teo Quay, and Mandy Young presented a poster at the Putting Patients First 2024 conference put on by the BC Support Unit. Over 500 people participated in-person and online. The poster showed the process for co-developing the UBC Health Position Statement on Patient Engagement in Research with the Patient & Community Advisory Committee (PAC).

PAC advises UBC Health’s senior leadership team on community concerns and is a resource for patient and public engagement across UBC Health. Members have a wealth of experience as participants and partners in health research. Their expertise and the resources they provided informed the position statement. The statement is a living document and will be pilot tested during the BC Ministry of Health research seed grant competition administered by UBC Health. Updates on implementation will be shared at events such as the 3rd international conference on ‘Where’s the patient’s voice in health professional education?’ November 12-15, 2025.
