Expanding Our Network: Welcoming 12 New Experts by Experience (EBEs)

Since the launch of the Expert by Experience (EBE) program in September, 12 new EBEs have joined our growing network, bringing valuable perspectives to UBC Health students. This initiative, developed by Mandy Young, Community Engagement Coordinator, is helping to address gaps in our current network that will enhance student learning about patient experiences from across the province.

Our recent recruitment efforts have prioritized diversity and geographic representation to ensure students hear a broad range of lived experiences. This map highlights the location of the 12 new Experts by Experience joining the Patient and Community Partnership for Education (PCPE) by health region. The newest EBEs include:

  • Urban, rural, and northern regions (Prince George, Kelowna, Rossland, Trail, Victoria, Vancouver, Coquitlam, and White Rock)
  • Indigenous, multicultural, and newcomer voices
  • Caregivers and patients
  • Two under 35 years of age

We remain committed to ensuring EBEs reflect the diverse communities served by our healthcare system. We are especially looking for folks in Prince George and Victoria, but we welcome interest from all areas of the province.
