CPERC 2024: Canadian Pharmacy Education & Research Conference
In June, Darren Lauscher travelled to Quebec City to present our collaboration with Dr. Jane Xia that brings patient journeys into the classroom for 3rd year pharmacy students. The poster reported survey results showing increased empathy among students who attended a tutorial led by patients living with HIV.
CPERC is the annual national conference of the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada. Nearly 300 pharmacy students, faculty and administrators from across the country attended. Darren was the only patient at the conference and there was a lot of interest in our work to bring patients into teaching and learning at UBC.
“First thanks for the support from UBC Health in sending me to the conference, recognizing the value of a patient voice. Secondly, thank you to all the amazing staff and students from UBC Pharmacy who took me under their wings, so I wasn’t just a lost soul at a conference flapping in the wind,” says Darren.
