5 New Members: UBC Health Patient & Community Advisory Commitee (PAC)

We are pleased to welcome five new members to the UBC Health Patient & Community Advisory Committee. Patience Magagula, Savanah Norman, and Sammy Pranteau began 3-year terms in January.
Patience is the current Executive Director of Afro-Canadian Positive Network Society (ACPNet) and works to improve the lives of refugees and immigrants living with HIV/AIDS. Savanah is the Director of Communications and Engagement with Justice for Girls where she works to improve access to healthcare for teenage girls living in poverty. Sammy is an Urban Indigenous Connector who lives and works in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and sits at many tables related to culture, harm reduction, health care, housing, and food sovereignty.
Bruce Raber and Jay Lambert joined the committee in March. Bruce is a retired architect who led a global healthcare design studio. He is a Health Mentor and past recipient of the Kerston Community Educator Award. Jay is a Métis/Cree and French Canadian resilience and transformation coach with over 20 years of experience in healthcare transformation and leadership development.
In its strategic plan UBC Health made patient and community engagement an integral part of its three areas of activity: education, research and systems change. PAC has an important role to play in UBC Health. We look forward to the contributions of these new members and the important perspectives they add to PAC.
