2024-25 Annual Report: Supporting Patient Involvement at UBC

Over the past academic year, 2,700+ students across 4 faculties had enriched learning opportunities with patients recruited by Patient & Community Partnership for Education. Additionally, 149 students and 43 mentors completed the Health Mentors program (see next story). Seventy-seven students took part in Patient & Community Voices workshops facilitated by 26 mentors and we added 16 new videos to the Living Library. Forty-five patients contributed 400+ hours to UBC Health committees and activities.

With a growing network of 28 Experts by Experience, 150+ Health Mentors and 150+ community organizations, we are able to connect UBC faculty, staff and students with expert patients from across the province. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible patient and community volunteers, many of whom return year after year to share their stories, wisdom, and lived experience. They are truly at the heart of this work!
