Nov 4 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Vancouver General Hospital (Sandwiches and refreshments served)
Patient and Community Partnership for Education (PCPE), in collaboration with Pathways Serious Mental Illness Society, invites you to a community-led interprofessional workshop featuring individuals with lived experience of serious mental illness and family members who have supported a loved one through their mental health journey. Through personal stories and small-group discussions, participants will gain insight into the experiences and challenges of living with serious mental illness from both individual and family perspectives. The session will explore the important role of empathy, compassion, and supportive relationships in recovery while creating space for meaningful conversation, questions, and connection. By the end of the session, participants will have a deeper understanding of the lived experience of serious mental illness and its impact on individuals and families. Through personal narratives and discussion with students from different health disciplines, participants will explore how healthcare professionals can provide compassionate, respectful, and person- and family-centred care.
