New Campaign: Empowering Patient Voices in Health Professional Education

At UBC Health, we believe that when the patient is acknowledged as a key partner and decision-maker in health, health care works better for everyone. In 2022, more than 1,800 students across 12 UBC health programs benefited from learning from patients through activities such as workshops, mentorship and videos. The Patient and Community Partnership for Education (PCPE) program has been so successful and impactful that we are unable to meet the growing demand for more patient voices!

This year we kicked off a Fundraising Campaign to raise $250,000 in order to engage more diverse patient groups in the PCPE activities, and reach even more health professional students. Thanks to generous philanthropic donors and a contribution from UBC Health, we have already raised $90,000 towards recruiting a community outreach coordinator! This October, our goal is to raise an additional $10,000 towards this campaign and spread the word, and we need your support.

If you have felt empowered by participating in any of our programs, or you simply believe in our mission to uplift patient voices in health education – we ask that you share our campaign with your family, friends and networks between now and October 25th. Together we can help increase access and support for equity-deserving patient groups to share their lived experiences with UBC health professional students.
