Forum on the Priority Health Concerns in British Columbia
On Dec 3rd, 20 participants representing different organizations and health concerns ranging from women’s health to HIV, visible and invisible disabilities, mental health, and parents gathered to share their perspectives on the priority health concerns in British Columbia and how we should be training future physicians to meet these needs.
Patient & Community Partnership for Education organized the forum on behalf of the UBC medical school undergraduate curriculum renewal working group. It is part of a review of the school’s social accountability mandate which includes a commitment to address the health concerns of the communities it serves.
Additional input is being collected via surveys. The report will be ready in January and a short video is being produced to go along with it to bring the messages to life for curriculum leaders. Stay tuned!
