UBC Health Awards: Vikram Bubber & John Dub Receive Kerston Award!

On June 9th, Health Mentors Vikram Bubber and John Dub were presented with the 2024 R. Paul Kerston Community Educator Award for patient and community educators who have made a difference to student learning at UBC.

Both John and Vikram have been Health Mentors since 2020 and have taught a wide variety of students in different educational settings. You can read more about their contributions to student learning and scholarly activities on the Kerston Award recipients webpage.

We also paid tribute to two past award recipients who have passed away. Long-time Health Mentors Marge and Eric Johnson took home the award in 2018.

“Tonight, as we celebrate the latest Kerston awardees, we remember Marge and Eric and the many patient partners who have helped shape the hearts and minds of the next generation of health professionals. It is an honour to be part of their lives and to support their involvement in the work of UBC Health,” said Cathy Kline, Assistant Director, Patient & Community Engagement.

The Kerston award is named after long-time community educator R. Paul Kerston. It was established to honour outstanding community educators who have expanded student learning beyond traditional professional boundaries and made a difference to student learning in health and human service programs at UBC. Nominations must be made by or seconded by a student.
