The 5th Annual Allies in Health Community and Patient Fair will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd 2013 at the West Atrium of the Life Sciences Centre at UBC. The success of the Fair relies largely on donations – if you would like to contribute a door prize, or a financial sum, please contact brianne.nettelfield@ubc.ca.

Each year the Division works with a variety of organizations in the community to bring students the Patient and Community Voices Workshop Series. This Fall we’ve done workshops with Positive Living BC and the Recovery Narrative Project. We are looking forward to the Winter/Spring session and invite you to stay tuned for future workshop updates.

Aboriginal Summer Camps win Community-Service Learning Award

The Division of Health Care Communication, in partnership with Fraser Valley Aboriginal Child & Family Services Society, has been recognized by a national Community-Service Learning Award from the J.W. McConnell Foundation for the “Aboriginal Community as Teacher” program.

Second book released by the Recovery Narrative Project

EVENING: the frayed edges, RIPPLES of Recovery, released in April 2012, is the second anthology by the Vancouver-based Recovery Narrative Project. The Recovery Narrative Project is a peer-led writing circle for mental health consumers who wish to share their stories of strength and recovery. Authors of the second anthology include Jude Swanson, Margo Robinson, Susan J Katz, Susan Trapp, and Zerom Seyoum.
